King Abdul Aziz Mosque- Marbella Grand Mosque
Overview:
- The King Abdulaziz Mosque in Marbella, the far south of Spain, is a prominent Islamic landmark, built by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz at his own expense, when he was the Emir of Riyadh.
-The mosque, which was opened with an official ceremony in 1981, houses a library of 225 square meters, containing more than 30,000 books and volumes, mostly on Islam, heritage, Arab literature and history.
-The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, was the first to pray in the mosque, which he called “King Abdulaziz Al Saud Mosque.” It is located at the top of a flat hill in the middle of Marbella, so the Mediterranean appears, surrounded by gardens and trees.
-It is noteworthy that there are more than 1,200 mosques in Spain, which reflects the tolerance and coexistence between religions in this multi-civilization country, as it was subject to Islamic rule from the eighth century AD until the fifteenth century, and it was called Andalusia, and Muslims left Islamic monuments in Spain which witness to Islamic civilization.
