Grand Masjid of Rome
Overview:
The Grand Masjid of Rome is one of the largest mosques in Europe and is located in the Prioli region of Italy, and besides being a mosque that houses the Islamic Cultural Center in Italy, it has become one of the most important and unique religious buildings in Italy.
The mosque's design is adapted from medieval buildings, due to the crowded columns similar to a Gothic cathedral.
The mosque has a great social, cultural and service role in Italy. Its origin dates back to 1974, when the Rome municipality allocated the land to build this mosque. Its construction was started in 1984, and it was opened in June 1995. It has an area of 30,000 square meters, with a capacity for thousands of worshipers.
