Robert Mouawad Private Museum

Overview:

Robert Moawad Private Museum or Palace” is a Lebanese museum located in Beirut's Zokak el-Blat quarter. It was established as a museum in the year 2006 AD.

It contains a wide variety of heritage, as the museum contains a number of oriental, western, Islamic and Christian artifacts from rare old books, ceramic and pottery vessels, parts of historical building columns, ancient weapons, weaving rugs, pieces of jewellery, and precious gemstones.

Seminars and cultural activities are also held on the museum, and the first Lebanese flag was signed and drawn in it.

Architectural Description:

It was built by "Philip Pharaoun" near the Serail on the western hill of old Beirut, the "Neo-Gothic" building was a reflection of the golden period of building art at the beginning of the century.

Some of its parts were destroyed in the first civil war, so it was restored in the style of the "Azem Palace" in Damascus with old carved wood.

In 1936, he collected in his house the most beautiful decorative collection dating back to the period between the thirteenth and nineteenth centuries, they were decorated with luxury. There are 14 halls on the ground floor and six rooms on the first floor.
