Al Sabla Battle
The tragedy of the Defection (10/19/1347)
There are many battles that took place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for unification, in which senior leaders participated and many of them sacrificed himself and his money in order for the country to be united and in progress, until it was unified by His Highness King Abdulaziz Al Saud - may Allah have mercy on him -. The Battle of Al Sabla was one of those battles, which took place between the two brothers, the Sultan bin Bajad and Faisal Al Duwais with His Highness King Abdulaziz Al Saud - may Allah have mercy on him.
Rawdat Al Sabla:
It is one of the largest, most famous and most fertile parks in Al Yamamah which is located east of Al Zulfi town, Al Yamamah Mountain is located between it and the tip of (Tuwaiq). It is bordered to the north by Raml (Al Thuwairat), to the east (Al Dawehi Dune), and to the south by Hazun. In Rawdaht Al Sabla, The famous Sabla Battle occurred. It is the end of the torrent of (Wadi Marakh), the well-known valley, along with the torrents that it comes from the side of Tuwaiq Mountain.
The reasons of Al Sabla Battle
His Highness King Abdulaziz Al Saud - may Allah have mercy on him - wanted to stop the war and pay attention to the internal structure of the Kingdom and work on building in it. However, not all leaders agreed with that opinion. Some of them wanted to remain in the battles and jihad for the sake of Allah and continue to conquest some other countries.
The brothers Sultan bin Bajad and Faisal Al Duwaish were one of those who refused to stop battles and determined that the fighting will continue, and this is what contradicted with His Highness King Abdulaziz Al Saud so he had to fight Sheikh Sultan bin Badjad and Sheikh Faisal Al-Duwaish to deter them from fighting against Iraq and pay attention to building the state.
His Highness King Abdulaziz Al Saud - may Allah have mercy on him - invited the leaders of tribes, sheikhs, scholars and the two brothers in a meeting in the city of Riyadh, so everyone attended that meeting except Sultan bin Badjad, but what they presented at the meeting contrasted significantly with the policies of His Highness King Abdulaziz Al Saud - may Allah have mercy on him - as they wanted to force the Shiites to back out of their road, otherwise they would be killed and driven out of the country, and after that the king presented their demands to many scholars and sheikhs, and all of them recognized that the reforms of His Highness includes Islamic law and that the king's obedience is against the law. Therefore, the two brothers considered that this fatwa came in the king’s favor against their interests.
The events of Al Sabla Battle:
The two brothers mobilized their forces for the war against His Highness and the king also mobilized his forces which were formed from the top leaders of the Kingdom at that time, and that battle is considered the last battle that His Highness led. After that, he worked on the internal reforms in the kingdom. When the forces met in Al Zulfi, His Highness the King offered Sultan Bin Bajad to come to trial and end the war, but Sultan bin Bajad refused and insisted on fighting.
The forces of His Highness launched an attack on the forces of the two brothers on March 30, 1929 AD. The battle took place between them until the King’s forces withdrew and the brothers thought that they had won and left their places, then the King’s forces attacked them and the victory was in favor of King Abdulaziz Al Saud – may Allah have mercy on him - and he eliminated the two brothers.
