Petra tou Romiou, also known as Aphrodite rock, is located at the southeast coast of paphos.
Myth concerning Petra tou Romiou
According to one legend the rock is the site of the birth of the goddess Aphrodite, perhaps owing to the foaming waters around the rock fragments. Another legend states that the Byzantine hero Digenes Akritas lifted the rock to prevent the arab's from entering the island from the 7 century and the 10 century. A third legend states that swimming around the rock three times will bring many blessings including; good luck, youth, true love and fertility.
