Overview:
"Port de Casablanca" is the second largest port in Morocco, which performs many commercial functions that made it a stop for various ships coming from different countries of the world. It is also a destination for visitors and tourists due to its ancient history and pioneering commercial role.
The nature of activity in the port is trade, fishing, ship repair and boating, and its depth ranges from 7 to 14 meters.
Architectural Description:
The port extends on more than 520 hectares of surface area and has more than 8 km of berths. It can receive and repair 40 ships at the same time.
It includes a commercial port, fishing port and marina, as well as facilities and infrastructure for drying and re-watering ships in shipyards.
The port is located in the middle of the Moroccan Atlantic coast at the bottom of a slightly protected port area between the rocky heads of El Hank in the west and Okasha to the east.
The port is connected to the east to Ibn Aicha Street, and to the west by the streets of the Almohads and the Royal Army. These streets are connected to the five gates of the commercial port.
The port includes a 17410-meter-long rail network belonging to the National Railways Bureau along the fence of the port from Gate No. 1 starting from the station to beyond the phosphate barrier, where the traction area extends.
Historic Overview:
"The Port of Casablanca" has a history dating back to the end of the eighteenth century, when it was a station for steamboats that transported grain from Morocco to other countries.
