St. Maroun Maronite Catholic Church
Overview:
It was built in 1875 in the Romanesque style, it is larger than a church and wider than a parish in the geography of the capital.
Architectural description:
It has beautiful tall buildings with arches, and decorated with carved stone on the top of their walls.
Its entrances are like the entrance to the temples with their marble columns, and its beauty was enhanced by the splendour and brilliance of coloured glass with images of saints.
Its white marble altar is topped with a picture of the patron saint of the sect, "Mar Maroun" by the painter Daoud Al-Qarm.
Historic overview:
It entered the modern history of Lebanon since the twenties with the patriotic stances of the rabbis of Beirut and the national meeting between the pillars of Lebanon who meet annually on the day of Saint Maroun's birthday (February 9).
