Basilica of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal of the Lazarist Fathers
Overview:
It is the first church in Lebanon to be granted by the Holy See the title of basilica.
It has the name of the Virgin, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, on November 27, 1952, in the presence of the Papal Ambassador.
Architectural description:
It was built by the Latin Lazarist Fathers on a hill from Achrafieh overlooking all of Beirut.
Historic overview:
It has been opened to service since its inception, which made it a center of piety, a factor of reconciliation and a spiritual factor in Beirut and all of Lebanon, especially during the harsh days of war.
On November 19, 2005, a "protocol of spiritual fraternity" was signed between it and the Basilica of Our Lady of Lourdes in France (something that happens for the first time), which makes it in the heart of the capital, Beirut, an oasis of prayer, meditation and peace.
In 2014, the artist Magda El Roumi performed the Christmas Recital on Thursday and Friday, where Magda presented a variety of the most beautiful Christmas carols.
