Shahid Tepa Mosque
Overview:
The Shahid Tepa Mosque is considered the largest mosque in Kyrgyzstan.
The original wooden building of the mosque was established between 1908 and 1910 AD.
It was closed by the Soviets, and used at that time as a horse stable and a blacksmith's place.
It reopened in 1943, due to a sudden act of the religious tolerance of the Soviet government at that time.
It was recently renovated with financial support from Saudi Arabia, and it now has a capacity of 5,000 prayers.
