The center is located south of Souq Waqif, and west of Qatar Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance.

The library of the Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center is a center for introducing Islam and caring for the Muslim communities. It includes a library full of many dawah books in dozens of languages aimed at serving the Muslim communities in Qatar. The library’s books are varied, although the prevailing are the religious knowledge books. There are also a large number of ancient and modern publications of the Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs in the Arabic language. It also includes various Arabic books that have apparently been transferred to the center through gifting or supplying by the ministry. The library also includes a section of audio dawah materials in dozens of languages for the benefit of library visitors.

The Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Islamic Cultural Center is one of the most prominent tourist attractions in Doha. It is also known as Al-Fanar Center, in relation to the Al-Fanar Mosque, which belongs to it. It is considered one of the largest mosques in the country, and is characterized by its unique minaret and distinctive architectural design. As for the center, it is one of the most important cultural centers in the country. It was named after the famous Islamic researcher who founded the Qatari judicial system, Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud. The center organizes a range of cultural activities and publishes Islamic studies, and includes a library.
