Overview:
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is a service ministry that specializes in achieving many goals, foremost of which are protecting the environment, preserving its resources and reducing emissions that cause climate change.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change was established in accordance with the decision No. (57) of 2021 of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State to specify the responsibilities of the ministries, which includes in its eighth article the responsibility of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
Ministry Responsibilities:
Proposing and implementing public policies to protect the environment and reduce emissions that cause climate change.
Conducting and evaluating the studies necessary to protect the environment.
Supporting and developing institutions that work to develop public awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting the environment.
Encouraging the use of technological developments in support and protection of the environment.
Developing wildlife and marine life, protecting their natural habitats, and following up activities related to them.
Monitoring the circulation of chemical and radioactive materials, managing radioactive waste, and following up on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
Promoting environmentally friendly uses of treated wastewater and recycled solid waste.
Issuing environmental licenses for industrial development projects.
Monitoring industrial environmental violations and conduct the necessary inspections. Managing and supervising nature reserves.
