Zendeh
Overview:
- Zayandeh Rud is the largest river in Iranian Plateau in central Iran.
- The Zayandeh starts in the Zard-Kuh subrange of the Zagros Mountains. The water wells reach a basin called Janan Spring and flow to the east through many cities such as Farasan, Daran, Zarinshahr and Isfahan.
- There are some branches and springs that connect the river in its path and make the water current faster.
- There are many bridges and bird towers in Isfahan. The most famous bridges built over this river are: Si O Se Pol Bridge, Khaju Bridge, Marnan and Shahrestan.
- After passing Isfahan, the river ends its long journey in the "Kawkhuni" pond, but recently, due to lack of water, Zayandeh Rud in Isfahan dries up for long periods.
- There are many wonderful gardens and lawns near the river in Isfahan. Therefore, people usually take outings in the same areas on weekends. This is the time when many relatives gather and share their daily routine with each other. There are also good spots to exercise where you can see groups of people playing volleyball, badminton or skiing.
- There is a neat path called “Healthy Road”, dedicated for walking and cycling along the river, you can enjoy the beautiful nature there.
