Grand Bazaar of Tehran

About the place

Grand Bazaar of Tehran

Overview:

- The Grand Bazaar of Tehran is the commercial heart of the capital. It is a historical monument that dates back to four centuries ago, and it was and still is an important center for any economic, political and even religious activity.

- It is difficult to draw clear boundaries for Tehran Bazaar, as you can get lost in the labyrinths of its markets and its crowded mazes. It is the main artery of commercial operations in Iran. About 400,000 market traders and craftsmen exist in it. They control two-thirds of the country’s trade. There is a market for gold, another for carpets, and more than 100 sections, all of which form the commercial heart of Iran since the Safavid era. It remained in the successive Iranian eras, an economic power that influences power and society.

- Centuries of age and the bazaar continues to trade and support the Iranian economy. Nothing has changed in its form except a roof that was previously missing when compared to the markets of Damascus and Baghdad, and it resisted any factor to change its historical appearance.
