Negarestan Garden

Overview:

- This beautiful garden is located in the central part of Tehran.

- Negarestan Palace was built in 1802 by order of Fathali Shah Qajar- the second Qajar king - as a summer residence. The halls were decorated with mirrors by the most eminent painters.

- It was named Nagaristan, which literally means a place which has many images.

- The museum in the garden displays the paintings of the pioneering Iranian artist Kamal Molk (1847-1940) and a number of his students.

- Nagaristan Garden was converted into the School of Fine Arts by Kamal Molk in 1911.

- University of Tehran used some parts of this historical garden to hold educational courses in 1934.

- The garden has been changed to Tehran University History Museum.

- In the garden there is an outdoor café serving visitors with refreshing drinks and traditional items in a pleasant atmosphere.

- It takes just five minutes to walk to this beautiful garden from Pastoran metro station. It is also very close to many museums and tourist sites such as the National Museum of Jewellery, the National Museum of Iran and many cafes and restaurants.
