Qasr Al Hosn
Overview:
- Over the years, Qasr Al Hosn was the home of the ruling family, and the headquarter of government in Abu Dhabi. It includes the National Consultative Council and the National Archives. It was founded by His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the United Arab Emirates.
- Qasr Al Hosn currently represents the beating heart of Abu Dhabi and a living witness to its ancient history.
- This tower was built in the 1790s to protect coastal trade routes and protect the island's growing communities.
The majestic Qasr Al Hosn is the oldest historical edifice in Abu Dhabi and includes a watchtower which is perfect to take pictures.
- Qasr al-Hosn consists of two notable buildings: the inner fortress, whose construction dates back to 1795, and the outer palace, which was built during the period between 1939 and 1945.
- The palace was transformed into a national museum in 2018, after undergoing more than a decade of extensive restoration work. It is a national symbol that reflects the development of Abu Dhabi from a region that relied on fishing and pearling in the eighteenth century to one of the most magnificent modern cities in the world.
- Its galleries contain a collection of artifacts and archival materials dating back to 6000 BC.
- The majestic renovated Qasr Al Hosn site is ideal to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours and learn about the history of the capital of UAE. Children will also enjoy discovering all the corners of this beautiful building.
