Wayang Museum
Overview:
• "Wayang Museum" is a museum dedicated to Javan wayang puppetry. The museum is located in Kota Tua, Jakarta. It is one of several museums and galleries facing the Fatahillah Square, which include "Jakarta History Museum", "Fine Art and Ceramic Museum", and "Kota Post Office art gallery".
• The museum building occupies the site of a church which was built in 1640 AD under the name of the Old Dutch Church, in 1732 AD the church was renovated and the name was changed to the New Dutch Church, and in 1808 AD the church was destroyed by an earthquake and the museum was built in the place of the church and it was renovated and developed several times over the previous years.
• "Wayang Museum" is one of the few museums in the world specialized in puppetry, and it is dedicated to art lovers while they are on their way to tourism in Indonesia.
