Merdeka Square is also known in Malayu as Darten Merdeka is a square that is located near the Malaysian capital centre. The square name means liberation or independence is one of the most important historic landmarks in Kuala Lumpur. The square contains many monuments like sultan Abdel Samad building, Selangor royal Club, the national museum, Kuala Lumpur city exhibit that exhibit Kuala Lumpur history, and Kuala Lumpur railway station.
Historic overview
Merdeka Square that was built in 1897 by the British forces, has a historic significance. The Malaysian flag was lifted for the first time after the end of the British occupation in 1957.
