• It was expanded several times and renovated in 854 and 900 AH.
• It has several names, including:
Qasab Mosque (Reed Mosque): The area was filled with reed forests in the past.
Al Ro'os (The Heads) Mosque: In reference to the heads of the seven nobles, the companions of Ali bin Abi Talib.
Al-Sadat Al-Zainabiyah Mosque or Al-Sadat Mosque: It is also attributed to the seven nobles.
The Manjak Mosque: Named after Prince Nasir al-Din Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Manjak, who renovated and built the mosque.
Historic overview:
• “Al-Sadat” neighborhood is one of the old Damascene neighborhoods, as it is the first neighborhood that was built outside the wall. It was previously famous for selling reeds to put on the walls of houses in the old days when it was cold.
• The mosque has three doors and its minaret is a similar to the minaret of "Al-Tirozi" bath in the "As Souweqah" area with its architecture and all its intertwined decorations.
• There is a water well inside the mosque, and it had several khans as "Al-Saab Khan" towards "Al-Amarah" neighborhood, and "Al-Sadat" khan, which has now been turned into a tile factory. These khans were a destination for the people of the villages from 1900 until 1960 for the purpose of selling agricultural products.
• The courtyard was recently repaired, and the mosque became a center for memorizing the Holy Qur'an.
