Overview:
• It was built during the period of rule of "Sinan Pasha", who was the governor of "Damascus" between 988-998 AH.
• It is located outside the walls of the city of "Old Damascus" opposite "Bab al-Jabiyah" and "Bab Sraijeh" market, and it complements the "Darwishiya" market.
Historic overview:
• An archaeological mosque whose construction dates back to the Ottoman era.
• The mosque was built upon an older mosque called "The Onion Mosque".
• The governor of “Damascus” Muhammad Pasha, son of the grand vizier, the late “Sinan Pasha” during the era of the Ottoman Sultan “Murad III” finished building the “Al-Sinaniyah” mosque in the year 999 AH corresponding to 1590 AD, and this mosque has no equal in the Levantine countries and the Egyptian home, which is one of the beauties of the Levant.
Architectural description:
• The mosque takes the shape of a rectangle. It is distinguished by its elegant internal and external construction as it is built of successive black and white stone courses.
