National Museum of Hama
Overview:
• The National Museum of Hama is located on the northern side of Hama, to the east of the Orontes River, about 200 m northeast of the Museum of Folk Traditions.
• The museum is surrounded by three streets; From the north, al-Malik al-Muẓaffar Street, from the south by Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque, from the east by Saeed Ibn Al-Aas Street, and from the west approximately Ibn Al-Haytham Street.
Historic overview:
• This palace was converted into a National Museum of Antiquities in the city of Hama in 1956 AD. This is what was mentioned in the inaugural tablet in the palace.
• It was inaugurated in 1999 with the holding of an inaugural scientific symposium attended by more than seventy scholars of different nationalities. Scholars have unanimously agreed that the museum is one of the good museums in its organization and divisions, and a founding tablet was set up dating this event.
• Hama National Museum is considered one of the first-class museums in Syria.
Architectural Description:
• The museum consists of five exhibition halls on the ground floor, which include all historical periods, and which take into account the chronology that Hama and its countryside has passed through.
• The most important pieces in the museum: by observing the tourists, the interest of the tourists is shown in three main pieces, namely (the lion carved from basalt stone, the mosaic panel discovered in Marimeen, Al-Nouri minbar made of famous wood).
