Bath Saadia

Overview:

• It is located in the archaeological "Mansuriya" market, or what is known as "Al Taweel" market today.

Historic overview:

• The bathroom was named " Bath Saadia", and that goes back to its builder "Assaad Pasha Al-Azm" in the period 1153 AH-1740 AD. It is the same period during which Asaad Pasha built the Azm Palace which is typically similar to the famous Damascene Azm Palace.

Architectural Description:

• The " Bath Saadia" is the second Hamawi hammam in terms of area after the "Darwishiya" hammam, which today needs a lot of care and restoration to preserve it.

• There are several sections in the "Saadia" bathroom. There are Al-Barani (outside), the first Wastani (middle), the Second Wastani (middle), and then Al-Jawani (Inside). The presence of two wastani (middle) parts in the bathroom is an advantage in this bathroom.

There is currently no women's section in the bathroom, although this section existed until a long time ago.

• The bathroom door was not closed except on the first day of Eid, and the work continued for 24 hours. The women’s period was between twelve in the afternoon until six in the evening, and they had original silk towels worked on the hand loom. The age of these towels dates back to 70- 80 years old. It is not used at all, it remains just a view for the customer, so it is less wearable.
