• "Al-Shaabaniya School" is one of the most important and largest schools that, over the years, provided science and knowledge to the people of "Aleppo" and still is. It is also distinguished by its beautiful architectural and engineering character.

• The Shaabaniya School is located in the locality of Al-Farafra.

• It was established by "Shaaban Agha bin Ahmed Agha" in the year 1085 AH (1674 AD), and he was the collector of the princely funds in the city of "Aleppo" at that time.

Historic overview:

• The school was built during the Ottoman era in "Aleppo" and represents an advanced stage of education.

• After the education before the construction of these schools was carried out in the manner of Kotab, that is, studying with the sheikhs within mosques, later, it moved to the stage of education in public schools, which are many of which were opened by the Ottomans in the city of "Aleppo", including "Al Shaabaniya School", which is one of the scientific and civilized edifices in the city. During its history, it graduated thousands of city residents and taught them various types of sciences, foremost of which are Sharia sciences, and it is still today.

Architectural description:

• The building of the school is beautiful, surrounded by corridors topped with domes, consisting of two floors.

• The most important characteristic of this school is the Qibliya facade, which is rich in muqarnas and Islamic geometric decorations, black and white alternate in the shoulders of the windows and the door as well as the stone alternates in its white, black and yellow colors above the two windows on both sides of the Qibliya.
