Ottomania Mosque (Al Ridaiya School)

Collector Alosma Intention

Overview:

• It is located in Bab Al-Nasr - Al-Farafra neighborhood, surrounded on three sides by three streets.

Historic overview:

• The construction of this school, "Osman Pasha", began in a place close to his house at the beginning of the year 1141 AH (1728 AD) and finished its construction in the year 1143 AH (1730 AD), and this is dated on its door.

• The school preserved its original building because of its durability. The historical references did not mention restoration work in it, nor did they mention that anything of it was destroyed and then rebuilt except for what Al-Ghazi mentioned that it was hit by several earthquakes, and nothing was cracked from it except the earthquake of the year 1237 AH 1821 AD, when the crescent of the minaret fell on the top of the Qibla and broke it, and that break was fixed.

• In the summer of 1998, the school underwent renovation work, in which the minaret was restored by replacing some of the damaged stones and some lead sheets that covered the dome. It was also illuminated and the roofs around the qibla on the western side, as well as the fence, were restored.
