Historic overview:

• This market was built during the reign of the governor of Aleppo "Khosro Pasha" in the year 955 AH / 1548 AD.

• Al-Shween: means storage, and it was mistakenly called Khan; This is because the khans were turned into warehouses, and each warehouse became called a "khan", and this is what happened to Khan al-Shuna after changing its function.

Architectural Description:

• The khan consists of two perpendicular caesareans, the first opening towards north-south, and the second towards the east.

• The shops are distributed on both sides of these two caesareans, and the corridors of the market are characterized by their regular arches and openings for ceiling and side lighting and ventilation.

• The market has a spacious inner courtyard with a pond in the middle, and on both sides, there is a nectar and ornate wooden pergolas, and it is surrounded by planting basins that add charm and freshness to it.

• As for its contents, Khan al-Shuna differs from the rest of the khans in the city of Aleppo, as it consists of one floor, two perpendicular markets, an inner courtyard, and four gates.
