Al Jasrah House:
Historical Overview:
Al Jasrah House is a heritage site built by Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Khalifa in 1907 AD, and inhabited by Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the ruler of Bahrain in the period (1942 - 1961 AD). It is also the birthplace of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the ruler of Bahrain in the period (1961 - 1999 AD).
The house is built in a simple, rustic, traditional way, consisting of small rooms arranged around a central courtyard. At present, the house is occupied as a center for traditional crafts and handicrafts, as it revives artistic and traditional crafts in Bahrain by attracting craftsmen through the center's programs that take care of traditional crafts, including: pottery making, embroidery and basketry weaving.
