Battle of Al-Regeai
Overview:
It is a battle that broke out on January 28, 1928 AD, between the Kuwaiti forces led by Sheikh Ali Al-Khalifa Al-Sabah and Sheikh Ali Al-Salem Al-Sabah and a group of brothers led by Ali Bin Ashwan Al-Mutairi in Al-Regeai, and Sheikh Ali Al-Salem was killed in it. It is the first Kuwaiti battle in which the people of Kuwait used cars that sank into the sand, and that was one of the reasons for their defeat.
The location of the battle:
The incident began with the looting of some Kuwaitis’ camels by some of the Mutair tribe in a place called Qira al Maru in western Kuwait, and the Kuwaiti forces pursued them until they caught up with them in a place called Al-Regeai, which is located north of the Saudi city of Hafr Al-Batin. It is about 90 km away from it, and adjacent to the Kuwaiti border.
Al-Raqi was named after Khalid bin Rabia bin Al-Regeai al-Tamimi, and his father was one of the six who called out to the Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace - with a loud voice in the story of the companions of the chambers.
Qira al Maru is a rectangular elevation that extends from east to west in the middle of the lands of the State of Kuwait, specifically north of Al-Jahra. It is 9 miles from Al-Jahra, extends for 15 miles, and its height ranges between 250 and 300 feet. It has pastures for camels, and there are no water wells in it, but it is rich in Maru stones.
