current location:
It lies to the southwest of the city of Unaizah, and Al-Ghada trees extend more than 100 square kilometers, over clean, beautiful sand. In past times, it was a fertile ground for camels. The beginning of imposing protection on Al-Ghada trees was when people used them for camels which used to live on cultivated fodder and the camels lacked certain materials which are found in the Al-Ghada trees. Protection was under the authority and patronage of Al-Unaizah. In present days responsibility has been transferred to municipal affairs, as the natural reserve became an important tourist attraction. It is probably that the start of the first protection was more than 150 years ago. - Al-Ghadaa tree is distinguished by its large size and circumference. Its height may reach more than five meters and its circumference to six meters. It grows in a sandy environment and lives on a little rain. Also, Al-Ghada tree has a little smoke when it is used as firewood and the fire is a long lasting. In addition to this, it has a pleasant aroma. Therefore, consumers prefer it over other types of firewood. Al-Ghada is found in Al-Unaizah region in recent years, threatened by logging professionals, after the demand for cooking fuel increased before petroleum products were available.
