Historic overview:
Berak Alghemad: the name of a site mentioned in the story of the Companions with the Messenger - PBUH - when Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad said: If you walked with us to Berak Alghemad, we would have walked with you.
It was also reported that Abu Bakr - may God be pleased with him - when he wanted to migrate from Mecca to Abyssinia, he passed with Berak Alghemad.
A Saudi-British research team uncovered rare archaeological pieces in Al-Bark Governorate, while archaeological excavations were recently conducted. In addition, 14 inscriptions were found drawn on stone pieces, according to the study of Professor of History and Archeology at King Saud University, Dr. Saeed Saeed.
Current location:
Berak Alghemad is called today (al-Barak), and it is a city located on the Hajjaj Road, on the shore of the Red Sea, and at a distance of about (130 km) south of al-Qunfudhah, and away from Mecca (560 km). In Al-Barak there is the mosque of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq - may God be pleased with him - which he built at the time of the migration to Abyssinia, and the features of the mosque are still clear today.
