Sayyida Khawla bint Al-Hussein Shrine

Overview:

• The shrine of Sayyida Khawla Bint Al Hussein is located at the southern entrance of the city of Baalbek and opposite the Banque du Liban.

• It was rebuilt in 1077 AH, which is the first thing that you see in this city and its castle.

• The shrine is surrounded by coniferous and wooded trees, and in the middle of the construction of the shrine is a rare perennial cypress tree, over hundreds of years old, and it was said that it was one of the trees that were planted with the construction of the castle.

• This place was registered with the Lebanese Directorate General of Antiquities.

Architectural description:

• The mausoleum is located in the center of the shrine. It is a new cage. Inside it is the old wooden cage that contains the tomb of Sayyida Khawla. The new cage is made of gold and silver.

• It is four meters long and three meters wide. Its door is made of antique oak wood clad with silver.

• The top of the mausoleum is decorated with silver and gold crowns inscribed with some of the names of the imams, in addition to the Qur’anic verses on the door of the mausoleum.

• The cage is topped by a huge multi-layered chandelier made of crystal.
