Hoggar Mountains

Overview:

• The Hoggar Mountains are located in the central Algerian desert, near the Tropic of Cancer, and cover an area of approximately 550,000 square kilometres.

• The region is considered a rocky desert with an average elevation of 900 meters, and the highest peak in it is Mount Tahat, which rises 2,908 meters above sea level.

• The mountains are made of highly beautiful metamorphic rocks. They are about two billion years old, and there are many dramatic climbing peaks in them.

• Hoggar Mountains have the two largest museums in the world of rock engravings and drawings, and this was mentioned by UNESCO.

Assekram Mountain:

• The mountain of Assekram is one of the most famous mountains of the Hoggar and is about 80 km from Tamanrasset province, and it is one of the famous tourist places that the tourist can reach after three hours on an unpaved road to enjoy watching the summit of the mountain, and the temperature on it reaches 12 degrees below zero throughout the year and the visitor sees the most beautiful view of the sunrise and sunset.
