Dar Al Hilal

Overview:

Dar Al-Hilal is considered the oldest Egyptian and Arab cultural press institution founded in 1892 by Georgi Zidan in Egypt, while Al-Hilal magazine issued by Dar Al Hilal is considered one of the oldest Arab magazines in the field of culture. The first issue of it was published in 1892 with an editorial written by Georgy Zidan, in which he clarified his plan and his purpose for issuing it.

Dar Al-Hilal Foundation, with its distinctive building built on the ruins of a singing garden, which was originally a hospital for the British occupation forces, and was established in (1892 AD), and is now issuing many of the most famous publications and magazines, and one of the largest and most prestigious press institutions in Egypt, before moving to this building, it was publishing one publication, Al Hilal Magazine, from a small and modest building on Fagalah Street. It was said that the reason for its moving to its current location, which is the largest and most luxurious facility in Muhammad Ezz Al-Arab, is that its founder, the novelist, Georgy Zidan, during the First World War, was sincere in cooperating with the British. He printed some pamphlets for them in his institution, and they rewarded him after their victory in the war by granting his foundation, Dar Al-Hilal, the building of their hospital in which it now resides.
