overview
In 1505, the Europeans prepared a fleet called the holy fleet, where it consisted of 600 battleships and 60 thousand soldiers under the command of the Spanish sailor Andrea Doria. while the ottoman fleet consisted of 122 ships carrying 22 thousand soldiers under the command of Hayreddin Barbarossa. The battle only lasted for five hours where the ottoman won and controlled most of the Mediterranean Sea. Ottoman control over the Mediterranean Sea lasted until 1571.
