King Saud Library
Overview:
The library is located in the heart of Buraidah on King Abdulaziz Street, surrounded by main vibrant streets, bordering to the west by King Abdulaziz Street and to the east by Othman Bin Affan Street.
"King Saud Library" was established in 1364 AH as the first public library in Saudi Arabia. It was the nucleus to a room attached to the Great Mosque founded by (Sheikh Omar bin Muhammad bin Salim). After his death, may God have mercy on him, Sheikh Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Hamid, worked hard to add more books to the library through gifting and buying and encouraged students to visit it, then he obtained the supreme approval of His Majesty King Saud bin Abdul Aziz, may God have mercy on him, to create an independent public library. Then Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid asked His Majesty, king Saud to purchase land for extending the library, and King (Saud) agreed. When the General Department of Libraries was established in the Ministry of Education in 1379, the library was annexed to it, and then it has become a beacon of knowledge and a cultural house for the people of the Qassim. Here the library has been in a building considered a beautiful architectural masterpiece in the heart of Buraidah.
