The Three Schools Complex

Overview

This complex consists of three schools: the Nakhla School (Médersa Ennakhla), the Médersa Bachia School, and the Sulaymaniyah School (Médersa Slimania).

The three schools are located close to each other.

Historical overview:

The first school, Al-Nakhlah School, was built in 1714 AD, and it was the closest school to Zaytuna Mosque (the Great Mosque). The Palm School took its name from a palm tree that was and still exists to this day in a small garden.

The other in its wonderful shapes and inscriptions, as in the middle of it is a square with three arches raised on white marble columns. Entrance to this school is through the Koutoubia approach.

In 1752 AD, (Ali Pasha) built a school bearing his name (The Basha School).

Two years after the founding of the Bashiya school, i.e., 1754AD, (Ali Pasha) established another school called the Sulaymaniyah School in memory of his son (Suleiman), who was killed by his brother with poison. This school is distinguished by a great portico raised on pillars.
