Battle of al-Qadisiyyah

Definition: 

•The Battle of Al-Qadisiyah took place on the fourteenth of the Hijrah, between Muslims and Persians during the era of Caliph Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb - may God bless him - and its general leader was Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas - may God bless him. The number of Muslims was more than thirty thousand fighters, of whom seventy were Badri, and more than six hundred of the Companions, and seven hundred of the sons of the Companions - may God bless them - while the number of the Persians reached one hundred and twenty thousand fighters, and with them thirty-three thousand elephants, including a white sabur elephant, and they were led by Rustam Jadhoeh.

• When the battle began, the Muslims were stubborn and lasted for four days, ending with the victory of the Muslims and defeating the Persians.

The location of the Battle:

•The Battle of Al-Qadisiyah took place near the Al-Qadisiyah region in Iraq, and Al-Qadisiyah region is located east of the Euphrates River and south of Kufa. It contains a city that was built during the era of the Persian kings, and between it and Basra there is what is known as the water of Iraq. The name of Al-Qadisiyah was given to that area in relation to the Qadis Palace, which was built in Al-Atheeb, which is one of its dependencies.

•Today, Al-Qadisiyah is one of the districts of Najaf Governorate, approximately 60 km away from it.
