Jabal Khazaz (Duhknah)
Historic overview:
Khazaz: It is a large red mountain, and has red plateaus. It was mentioned in the poem of Amr ibn Kalthoum.
Khazaz, Kiir, and Matalea are three mountains between Basra to Mecca; Mtala is on the right of the road to Mecca, Kiir is from the north and Khazaz is beside the road. However, people usually do not pass by the three mountains.
Some historians argued that Khazaz's day was "the greatest day for the Arabs in pre Islamic period. The Adnanites belived so, as in this day, Nizar had a great victory. People who joined her from Madhjaj tribes, and the Yemeni tribes have never overcome the Nizar tribes. On the other hand, Nizar tribes including Madr, Rabia and others, had never gained a victory over the major Yemeni organized tribes. Therefore, the day of its victory was one of the greatest days, as it revived a spirit of resistance and self-reliance in resisting the powerful Yemeni tribes.
