Overview:
Bibliotheca Alexandrina contains four museums: Sadat Museum, Antiquities Museum, Manuscripts Museum, and History of Science Museum.
Sadat Museum: It is the first of its kind for the late president in Alexandria. It comes within the framework of the library's documentation of modern and contemporary Egyptian history. A full wing was allocated for it next to the planetarium, located on an area of 260 meters.
Antiquities Museum: The museum was officially inaugurated on October 16, 2002. Its collections have been carefully chosen to reflect Egypt's rich and multicultural history spanning across the Pharaonic, Greek, Roman, Coptic and Islamic cultures, with an emphasis on Alexandria and the Hellenistic period. The museum contains 1133 exhibits.
Manuscripts Museum: It aims to serve visitors and researchers, introducing heritage and rare manuscripts and books, preserving them, and taking care of them in a good scientific manner, for all age groups in society. It also aims at cooperation and scientific exchange in the field of manuscripts with museums and corresponding centers in countries of the world.
History of Science Museum: Sheds light on the historical aspect of science in Egypt through three important historical periods; They are: Pharaonic Egypt, Hellenistic Alexandria, and the Arab-Islamic civilization in the Middle Ages. It is not a traditional museum, it offers several activities target the general public, especially school students, in addition to organizing several traditional museum tours.
