The Qaisariah Souq

About the place

 The Qaisariah Souq

Overview:

After a massive fire that broke out, Qaisariah Souq preferred to keep its design, which reflects the Saudi heritage instead of turning into a modern commercial mall, as that would result in ruining the surrounding archaeological sites. Therefore, it was added to the World Heritage List, which promotes preserving the authenticity of everything.

Qaisariah Souq is one of the most important tourist attractions in Al-Ahsa in Al-Kut district of Hofuf. It hosts more than 422 shops selling various products, especially traditional and local products.

This market dates back to nearly six centuries; it had a social and economic significance, as it was a commercial hub selling traditional handicrafts such as textiles, rugs, swords, daggers, necklaces, leather, metal casting, horses and camels’ equipment, hand-made garments as well as perfumery, herbs, folk medicine and dates.
