Historic overview:
Ibn Musa said Abida comes from the homes of the Yamanis between Tihama and Yemen.
Bidah, a village known as Ghamed and Zahran, is in Arabic dictionaries as “Abida”.
Abida:  It refers to the house of Bani Salaman.
Abu Dawood said: Abida: The land of khatha’am.
Current location:
Abida was one of the places in Azd al-Sarat. Currently, it is called Bidah. It extends from the north of Bani Sar valley in the south to the Turbah valley in the north, and is located east of the villages governorate belonging to the area of Al Bahah.
Baidah valley is located north of Al Bahah, the oldest villages that has historic significance, as it was the first valley connecting the courtyard to the cities of Saudi Arabia and passing through Baidah valley.
It is famous for pomegranate cultivation and has pomegranate and palm plantations that produce abundant amounts with high quality.
It is 100 km long, and hosts many villages south and north of the valley, including, Zarba, Jadlan, Alghamis, Alkawafel, Al-Nasif, Bathan, Mahasoukh, the center of Bidah, and Almtarafa.
The village of Bathan is located Above Bidah, in the middle of the village of Mahasouqa where the poet Shanfari was killed, in pre Islamic period. On the other hand, the village of Susiya is located in the bottom of the valley.
