It is the stone that Abraham - peace be upon him - stood on to build the Kaaba. Ehen they build the wall, Ismael came to stand on it and give him stones, and he puts them with his hands to build the wall. Abraham stood on the maqām, which miraculously rose up to let him continue building and miraculously went down in order to allow Ishmael to hand him stones. Whenever you complete one side, he moves to the other side. He moved around the Ka'bah, standing on the stone, whenever he finishes a wall he moved the stone to the next side and so on, until they completed the walls of the Kaaba; his footprints were visible, and the Arabs knew this in the pre Islamic period.

Description of The stance of Abraham (peace be upon him):

As for the description of the stone.

It is a soft stone, about fifty centimeters in length, width and height. In the middle of the stone, there are the footprints of Ibrahim - peace be upon him - two holes in the shape of an oval rectangle. People dug them by wiping their hands in it and putting Zamzam water there many times that led to the removal of the imprint and there are only two holes instead.
