The Pierre Loti Hill and cafe (Pierre Loti Tepesi in Turkish) is one of the most important places that attract tourists as it offer a magica view to the city of Istanbul.
The hill was named after the French writer “Pierre Loti” who lived in Istanbul for long years and is the author of novel ''Aziyade''. Aziyade was the name of the woman who Pierre Loti fallen in love once upon a time and became his wife. Gained the sympathy of Turkish people due to his supports to resistance and his criticisms of the French occupation.
In 1920, he was given the title of Honorary citizen of Istanbul, a street in Divanyolu in Istanbul and cafe in the Eyup district were named after him and now the hill in which this cafe is located also named after his name.
