The history of "Rize Castle" dates back to the Byzantine era or this is what some think, while others see it as belonging to the era of the King of Trabzon because the castle was built with the aim of repelling the enemies as the city of Rize was a target for many.

Architectural description:

The castle is about 700 meters above sea level, which offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the city.

The “Zil Kali castle” in Risa consists of two underpass castles that have been completely destroyed except for some remnants of its walls because of population displacement. As for the inner castle, it is still the same thanks to the renovations made by the Ottoman Empire.

The castle gives its visitors a comprehensive view of its history; a sneak peek into the history of Risa and also gives you a magical panoramic view of the city, its sea and its surroundings from the top of its tower, so do not forget to bring a camera with you.
