Alexandria Zoo
Overview:
Alexandria Zoo is one of the oldest gardens in the East, and it was originally a botanical garden from Antoniadis Gardens full of rare plants imported from all over the world. In 1916, two acres of Antoniadis Garden were re-organized to display a few wild animals and birds, and they remained temporarily within Antoniadis gardens until they settled there in 1926.
It is the second largest zoo in the Arab Republic of Egypt after Giza Zoo.
Alexandria Zoo is located in Nozha neighborhood, near Smouha.
The zoo includes many animals, including mammals, reptiles and birds, and it is considered one of the best gardens in Alexandria.
Its main exhibitions include: The Lions House, the Reptile House and the Tower, and its most important landmarks are: Waterfowl Lake, Children's Garden, Rose Garden and the Museum of Natural History.
