Galatasaray Hammam
Overview:
• This Hammam was built close to Al-Istiqlal Street as part of the buildings of the “Galatasaray” mosque during the reign of Bayezid II in the year 1481 AD.
• To get to the Galatasaray bath, there is a station with the same name "Galatasaray", which you can reach via tram line T5.
Historic overview:
• One of the most distinctive Turkish baths in Istanbul, as it is a traditional, historical bath that receives people from inside and outside Turkey, providing them with a unique Ottoman experience.
• It used to make the most important commercial deals and discuss matters of politics and society. Today, however, it has become a title for heritage, tourism and health.
Architectural description:
• Men have a special section and women as well, and both have massage experts who take care of visitors of the hammam, each in his field of specialization.
• The bathroom has steam rooms and saunas, hot water pools, and wellness stones.
• The “Galatasaray” bath maintains a historical and traditional atmosphere through the old tools used in it, such as drying tools and wooden shoes, and through the traditional forms that decorate it.
• The bathroom was restored in 1965, and some sections and modifications were added to it. A dressing room called “Jamkan” was built, and a special bathroom for women. The bathroom walls were covered with porcelain.
• The bathroom includes many sections, where the cold section of the bathroom includes 7 places for bagging, and the hot section contains two rooms and is covered with a large dome.
