Chinatown
Overview
Chinatown is one of the best tourist attractions in Manchester. It is the second largest Chinatown in the United Kingdom and the third largest in Europe.
Manchester Chinatown is known as the “Chinese Village of the north of England”.
History:
This neighborhood was created in the 1970s by one of the largest Chinese communities in England.
It was established to host many immigrants in the aftermath of World War II. Due to the shortage in labor force, many of the Chinese headed to work there. Many Chinese restaurants and service shops were opened and began to expand gradually. Moreover, many major Chinese companies and some international banks opened their branches in Chinatown.
