It is one of the most prominent symbols of the United Kingdom and parliamentary democracy, and it is often used in the establishing shot of films set in London.

Architecture

It weighs around 12 and half tons.The hour hand is 9 feet (2.7 m) long and the minute hand is 14 feet (4.3 m) long. The tower is around 320 feet tall.
