Overview

Located on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge to the south of Hyde Park, London is the second biggest department store In the U.K. after Silverage Mall.  It offers a wide array of products including clothes, jewelry, accessories, gifts, home supplies, beauty products and many more. It covers an area of 20000 m2.

History

It was established by the 25-year-old Charles Henry Harrods in 1824. It started in the south of the Thames River in Southwark and it rapidly expanded, hiring around 100 workers by 1880.

The store is visited by up to 300 thousand tourists on peak days, comprising the highest proportion of customers from non-English speaking countries of any department store in London. More than 5 thousand workers from more than 50 countries work at Harrods.
