Established in 1869, it’s a covered food market housing 400 stalls. The market suffered during World War II from rules prioritizing food production. A civilian shelter nearby was also bombed on 7 Saturday, 1940. In 1960, new rules were forced upon merchants and the market became famous for selling gardening tools.
