• Centre Georges Pompidou is a complex building in the Beaubourg area of the 4th arrondissement of Paris.

• The Centre was built in 1977. In 2000, renovation work was completed.

Architectural description

• Designed in the style of high-tech architecture; It is one of the prominent tourist destinations in Paris and France.

• It houses the Bibliothèque publique d'information, a vast public library; the Musée National d'Art Moderne, which is the largest museum for modern art in Europe, a centre for music and acoustic research.

• The building covers 2 hectares (5 acres) about 103,305 m2 consisting of 7-level superstructure and a 3-level infrastructure.

• The building is recognizable by its exterior escalators.

• It  hosts 3-story museum displaying the most outstanding art collections of the 20th century artists (Picasso - Matisse - Kandinsky - Klee and others). It also houses laboratories for teaching most languages.
