Sabil of Sultan Mustafa III
Historic overview:
It was established by Sultan Mustafa Khan III, son of Sultan Ahmed III, and he made above it Kuttab to teach children in the year 1172 AH - 1758 AD, and it is the second and last sabil that was built for an Ottoman Sultan in Cairo.
Architectural description:
The sabil from the inside is a room after the entrance door attached to the watering room and precedes it the sabil room with an arched facade with three windows. There are also annexes to the sabil.
The tank was to the left of the annexed room which contained an open to go down to the tank.
The Sabil is distinguished by its arched exterior facade, which has three large arched entrances resting on four cylindrical marble columns. In the middle of it there are three watering windows with a copper interlacing, and the space between the windows arches has three rectangular marble fillings, in the middle of each filling an oval shape, and the facade is preceded by a marble ring to place the drinking cups.
As for the walls of the watering room, in its lower part, marble panels made of rectangular slabs surrounded by frames of scrap marble of various colours. Its upper part is covered with blue ceramic tiles on a white ground, and between the marble frames and the ceramic tiles there are wooden skirting board decorated with oil paintings with floral elements close to nature.
